WELCOME TO MACCABI CANADA'S 2023-2024 CATCHBALL SEASON.

The season will open in OCTOBER 2023.

2023-2024 SEASON-LEAGUE
The league will offer 3 streams of weekly play, Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3. 

Tier 1 Stream is geared towards the experienced player who has played Catchball for 2 or more years at an intermediate OR greater level of play and good knowledge of the game. Tier 1 practices will be designed to enhance the players skill level to play at a higher level and faster game pace. 

Tier 2 Stream is geared towards the beginner-intermediate player, who has 1 or more years experience in Catchball and playing the game, or who prefers to play in this stream.  Tier 2 Stream will teach skills and fundamentals of Catchball.

Tier 3 Stream is geared towards the novice player, who has no experience in Catchball or has less than 1 year playing the game, or who prefers to play in this stream.  Tier 3 stream will teach the basic skills and fundamentals of Catchball.

Streams 1-3 will practice once a week (90 minutes) with a coach who will teach and advance their individual player and team’s skills.  Teams will have the opportunity to play in interleague games and have an end of season tournament (Schedule & Details to follow).

Recreational Stream
- Pick Up Game - is geared towards the player who wants to continue to play catchball but focus on playing at a recreational (non-competitive) level.  Enrollment and payment will be required in advance and player availability must be confirmed 1 week prior to the scheduled game. Players who are enrolled in Tier 1 -3 streams are welcome to participate in the Recreational stream.

INTERLEAGUE GAMES – Tiers 1-3 will participate in a league. Each team will play up to 10 games. Final schedule will be provided in September. Games will follow the International Catchball Federation Rules with an experienced referee. 

Team Outline
The number of players per team is 16.  If a team enrollment does not meet the required number of players, players may be placed, with attention to skill level and experience, on a new team.  If a team is less than 16 players, but has a minimum of 14 is required a the fee may be revised.

A group of players may request to play together as a team.  They can select a location offered by Maccabi Canada or source their own facility (details of own facility to be finalized).

Team Managers/Captains
Each team will select a team manager and captain. They will be the liaison between Maccabi Canada Catchball Office, the team, and the coach.

Novice player: a player with no experience of game
Beginner -Intermediate: 1 – 2 years experience playing the game
Experienced players: 2 or more years of play in the Maccabi Canada Catchball program with intermediate skill level or other team/league playing of comparable level. 

Players who do not meet the level of play for the team they selected, Maccabi Canada will recommend a team that is better suited for their skill level and location.

NOTE:
Current teams (a team continuing from the previous season) may have a spot open for an additional player(s). Selection to the team will be based on player commitment, availability and skill to ensure the player meets the team's current level of play.  If you are interested in joining a current team, please select the team of choice.  Please select a second choice as your first option may not be available.

* 16. Cancellation Policy

In the case that Maccabi Canada cancels a team(s), for any reason, and no alternative teams are available or agreed upon with the player, a full refund will be issued by cheque and mailed to the address provided on the participant’s registration form.  Please allow 6-8 weeks for refunds to be processed.

If you wish, your refund can be donated back to Maccabi Canada and you will receive a donation receipt for the value of the refund.

* 17. Refund Policy
Refunds are based on the full fee value of the season.
  • Administration and processing fees of $50 are non-refundable.
  • If a player withdraws up to 14 days prior to the start of the season, the refund will be the full fee, minus the admin fee, less 10%.   
  • If a player withdraws within 14 days prior to the start of the season, the refund will be the full fee, minus the admin fee, less 20% 
  • If a player withdraws once the season has started, the refund will be the full fee, minus the admin fee, less 35%  (from start of the season up to 2 completed team practices)
  • NO REFUNDS after 2 completed team practices. If the player selected the option to pay by installments, all remaining installments will be processed according to the payment plan.
  • Please allow 6-8 weeks for refunds to be processed by cheque.

RELEASE AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK AGREEMENT. BY SIGNING THIS AGREEMENT YOU WILL WAIVE CERTAIN LEGAL RIGHTS.

I, athlete or parent/legal guardian of the above participant, coach, staff or volunteer ("the participant"), acknowledge and agree that in consideration of being permitted to participate in Maccabi Canada Program and related Activities arranged, organized, sponsored, conducted, authorized, staged and/or operated by Maccabi Canada:

1. I, the Participant, HEREBY ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT:
  • Understands, acknowledges and assumes the inherent risks in participating in Maccabi Canada Program and/or related Activities organized, sponsored, conducted, authorized, staged and/or operated by Maccabi Canada, including, but not limited to: the potential for bodily injury or illness (including contraction of COVID-19); contact or interaction with others who may have been exposed to COVID-19; permanent disability, paralysis, or loss of life; collision with natural or manmade objects; dangers arising from adverse weather conditions; imperfect venue or field of play conditions; equipment failure; participants of varying skill levels; inadequate safety measures; circumstances known, unknown or beyond the control of the Organizer, its partners, sponsors, agents, affiliates, directors, employees, officer, therapists, or volunteers (together, the “Organization”); negligence or omission of the Organization (collectively, the “Risks”).
  • In consideration for allowing the Participant to participate in a Maccabi Canada Program and/or related Activities , the Participant and/or the Participant’s Guardian:
    (a) release, discharge and forever hold harmless the Organization from any and all liability for damages or loss arising as a result of the Risks of participation in or in connection with the ;
    (b) waive any right to sue the Organization in respect of all causes of action (including for injuries or illness caused by their own negligence), claims, demands, damages or losses of any kind that may arise as a result of the Risks of participation in or in connection with the Maccabi Canada Program and related Activities, including without limitation the right to make a third party claim or claim over against the Organization arising from the same; and
    (c) freely assumes all risks associated with the Risks, anything incidental to the Risks, which may arise as a result of participation in or in connection with the Maccabi Canada Program and related Activities. YOU ARE GIVING UP LEGAL RIGHTS TO ANY AND ALL FUTURE CLAIMS AGAINST THE ORGANIZATION.

• The Maccabi Canada Program and related Activities may be dangerous, exposing myself and others to many risks and hazards, some of which are inherent in their very nature, others which result from human error and/or negligence on the part of the persons involved in arranging, organizing, sponsoring, authorizing, conducting, staging and/or operating the Maccabi Canada Program and related Activities;
• The Maccabi Canada Program or related activities (including travelling to or from such Program or Activity) can be an extreme test of a person’s physical, emotional and mental limits and carries with it the potential for death, serious injury and property loss. The risks include, but are not limited to: actions of other people including, participants, volunteers, spectators, coaches, event officials, event monitors and/or producers of the event; lack of hydration, weather, and/or other natural conditions. I hereby assume all of the risks of participating in any Maccabi Program or Activity;
• I certify that I am physically, emotionally and mentally fit and have not been advised otherwise by a qualified medical professional;
• I willingly agree to comply with the customary terms and conditions for participation. If however, I observe any unusual significant hazard during my presence or participation, I will remove myself from participation and bring such to the attention of the nearest Maccabi Canada representative immediately;
• I understand that neither Maccabi Canada nor any of its directors, officers, employees, volunteers, sponsors, independent contractors or agents assume any responsibility whatsoever for my safety during the course travelling to and from, or my preparation for or participation in any Maccabi Canada Program or Activity;
• I understand that Maccabi Canada does not undertake to provide health, accident, disability, hospitalization, personal property, or other insurance for participants in our programs or activities. I affirm that I have appropriate medical insurance in the event medical attention is needed for me;
• I understand that I may be photographed and agree to allow my photo, video, or film likeness to be used for any legitimate purpose by Maccabi Canada;
• I hereby consent to receive emergency medical treatment that may be deemed advisable by a medical professional in the event of injury, accident, and/or illness during any Maccabi Program or Activity;
• I nevertheless freely and voluntarily assume all the aforesaid risks and hazards, and that, accordingly, including traveling to and from, my preparation for, and participation in any Maccabi Programs and Activities shall be entirely at my own risk;
2. I, for myself and on behalf of my heirs, assigns, personal representatives and next of kin, hereby to the greatest extent permitted by law, RELEASE, HOLD HARMLESS AND INDEMNIFY Maccabi Canada and its directors, officers, employees, volunteers, sponsors, independent contractors and agents (collectively “the Released Parties”) from all liability, and all recourses, proceedings, claims, and causes of action of any kind whatsoever, present or in the future, in respect of any and all personal injuries or property losses which I may suffer arising out of or connected with travelling to and from or my preparation for, or participation in Maccabi Canada Programs or Activities notwithstanding that such injuries or losses may have been caused solely or partly by the active or passive negligence or breach of duty of Maccabi Canada or any of their directors, officers, employees, volunteers, sponsors, independent contractors or agents. I also recognize and agree that the Released Parties assume no responsibility for any liability, damage, or injury that I might sustain due to the intentional, unintentional or negligent acts or omissions of any other person or organization.

3. Governing Law
This Agreement shall be construed, interpreted and enforced in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada.

4. Severability
If any provision of this Agreement or its application to any Party or circumstance is determined by a court of competent jurisdiction to be illegal, invalid or unenforceable, it will be ineffective only to the extent of its illegality, invalidity or unenforceability without affecting the validity or the enforceability of the remaining provisions of this Agreement and without affecting its application to other parties or circumstances.

* 18. Maccabi Canada reserves the right to cancel any program at any time if they feel it is not safe to continue to run and participate.
Safety of the participants, staff and their families is top priority.

* 19. Acknowledgment of Understanding:
I, the named participant above, have read the Risk Assumption Waiver and Consent Agreement, and fully understand its terms and conditions. This is to certify that I do consent and agree to the release as provided above, and for myself, my heirs, assigns, and next of kin, I release and agree to indemnify the Releases from any and all liabilities incident to my involvement or participation in these programs or activities.

The cost of the season before August 31 is $500.  Effective September 1, the program cost will be $550.
Enrollment Fee includes: practice facilities (one practice per week), coaching, team shirt, league games with referee.
Fee is subject to change based on a team's additional requests. 

NOTE:
  • Player payment will ONLY be accepted online.
  • Your enrollment or spot on the team will not be processed or guaranteed if payment is outstanding.  
  • You will have the option to pay the season in full or in installments that will be automatically charged to your credit card on the 15th of each month.
