Thank you for your interest in the CAMS-4Teens training provided by the Howard County Local Behavioral Health Authority! CAMS-care is an evidence based, suicide-focused treatment framework backed by 30 years of clinical research and 6 published randomized controlled trials. This training opportunity will build upon the CAMS-Care framework provided in previous trainings and facilitate a greater knowledge base and skill set for Howard County Clinicians to be able to meet the needs of clients with suicidality in Howard County, in the least restrictive setting possible. The Howard County Local Behavioral Health Authority is funding a FREE training opportunity in the CAMS framework for up to 15 clinicians in Howard County. Those currently CAMS trained will have priority enrollment with CEUs, but if we are able to, we will offer them out to others.

CAMS is an evidence-based therapeutic assessment and treatment framework that places concerted emphasis on the word “collaborative." In this framework, therapists work hand-in-hand with each patient, discussing the patient’s experience in a non-judgmental fashion using the Suicide Status Form (SSF) as a guide to gather information about the patient’s current experience and suicide risk. This framework helps them identify triggers together then work collaboratively to devise treatment and stabilization plans — all while building trust through collaboration and transparency throughout the treatment process. CAMS-4Teens was developed to train clinicians on how to adapt and implement the CAMS Framework® and the Suicide Status Form (SSF) for youth ages 12 and older. The training also provides updated information on the nature, epidemiology, and prevention of youth suicide, including a specific focus on reducing access to lethal means and how to work within and across systems of care (hospitals, schools, justice, and outpatient settings). It is intended for a range of audiences including, psychologists, healthcare providers, supervisors, and administrators, and it is appropriate for hospital networks, state agencies, and school districts.

Participants who complete the CAMS-4Teens training, consisting of a virtual Training/Workshop, and 4 consultation calls, will receive 4 free CEUs. This training is ideally for those clinicians that have already been CAMS-Care Trained. After participating in all elements of the training, you can opt-in to the clinician locator with CAMS-Care which is a public way to let people know that you have been trained. The Howard County Behavioral Health Authority will also use your information to refer clients to you that fit the criteria of the CAMS model. The training will include use of a Suicide Status Form (SSF) to screen and assess for suicide risk and address patient-identified drivers of suicidality in weekly therapy sessions. The consultations will take place in a virtual format where the clinician will choose when they can join virtually at a scheduled time. In exchange for the training, clinicians will be asked to send a simple quarterly datasheet tracking their utilization of the model to the LBHA
