City of Cambridge embodied carbon survey

Introduction and Role

In 2015, the City of Cambridge adopted its Net Zero Action Plan (NZAP), laying out a series of actions to achieve net zero emissions in the built environment by the year 2050. When the NZAP was updated in 2021, one of the key added actions was to 'Address Embodied Carbon through Green Building Requirements.'
To fully address greenhouse gas emissions from new developments or substantial renovations, embodied emissions must be accounted for and reduced along with operational emissions.
As part of this effort, The City of Cambridge is inviting you to participate in a survey to provide feedback about your experiences conducting life cycle analysis, your opinions about what components should be tracked and how, what the embodied carbon reporting requirements (and reporting template) should include and related issues.
Cambridge will only be asking project teams to report on embodied carbon at this point, not requiring any reductions.
Your answers will be completely confidential and the consultants will only be sharing back aggregated answers and themes.
You are receiving this survey because you are an owner, developer, architect or a sustainability consultant with experience in life-cycle assessment (LCA) and embodied carbon [in or around Cambridge, Massachusetts] or another relevant stakeholder within the City of Cambridge.
At the end of the survey, you will see a link to a Miro board that has the actual reporting template and supporting toolkit. Your feedback on the actual template will be helpful.
Please feel free to share this survey with colleagues and peers.
