Submission Guidelines

The American Probation and Parole Association (APPA) is pleased to issue a Call for Presenters for our 48th Annual Training Institute set for August 27-30 in New York, NY. Please see our full submission guidelines here

Individuals interested in submitting a proposal for consideration must provide the following information. This information is needed to comply with APPA training accreditation requirements and to apply for permission to grant credit for contact hours in a variety of professions (e.g., social workers, substance abuse counselors, continuing legal education). Regrettably, APPA does not reimburse presenters for expenses and fees associated with participation.

* 6. Workshop Description: A clear, concise, and accurate description of the workshop as it will appear in the program (maximum: 150 words). APPA reserves the right to change the construct of a workshop description.

Training Objectives: Describe the measurable skills, knowledge, and/or new capacity the participant will gain as a result of the workshop (i.e., at the end of the training participants will be able to list five of the ten causes of suicide) and please provide AT LEAST THREE training objectives. Preference will be given to workshops that include training objectives using verbs derived from Bloom's Taxonomy as well as S.M.A.R.T. training objectives that are: (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Timely).

* 8. Activity: Please describe any activities that will be used in the presentation. Activities will not be listed in the program but will assist with presentation selection. Preference will be given to presentations that are skill-based in nature (i.e., participants will be asked to complete a group activity to discuss potential steps to implement the described program at their home agency), or that present new research relevant to the field of community corrections.
