Recognition Program: State Superintendent of the Year The AASA National Superintendent of the Year Program pays tribute to the talent and vision of men and women who lead our nation's public schools. Each year, ASA selects and honors a State Superintendent of the Year who is then eligible for nomination to the National Superintendent of the Year Program. This program is designed to recognize the outstanding leadership of active, front-line superintendents who plan to continue in the profession. APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS1. Must be an Arizona superintendent for at least three years prior to this year.2. Has not received this award during the preceding five years.3. Is an active member of ASA and AASA.4. Plans to continue as a superintendent.SELECTION CRITERIANominees are judged on the following criteria:1. Leadership for Learning - successfully meeting the needs of students2. Communication - strength in personal & organizational communication3. Professionalism - improvement of knowledge and skills while providing professional development and motivation to others4.
