Greater Dandenong Council invites you to take part in a survey about perceptions of safety in and around the Hemmings Street precinct. Council is keen to learn about your experiences and views to try and improve local conditions and safety for you and others in the community.

Priority 1    Increase community participation through Neighbourhood Watch recruitment

Neighbourhood Watch will work with Victoria Police and Council to increase its membership in the Hemmings Street area to build community confidence in preventing crime and anti-social behaviour and increasing safety.

* 10. Priority 2    Improve perceptions of safety through arts and cultural engagement events

Council will work with Victoria Police and local agencies to hold events in the Hemmings Street area in 2021, after COVID restrictions lift. These events would help Council and the Police engage with the community and provide information to you and others in the area about how to report crime and anti-social behaviour.

* 11. Priority 3    Improve crime prevention, security and safety infrastructure

Victoria Police will work with Council to obtain funds to install a Mobile CCTV Camera System. This would be used to prevent crime, alert Police, and improve local safety.

Council will advocate to local members of State parliament and partner with State Government agencies to improve safety in the Hemmings Street area.
