BCAFM 2027 Board Nomination Application

Deadline
Nomination packages must be received on or before 11:59 PM on Monday, November 30, 2026. No exceptions. All 3 nomination requirements must be submitted on or before this deadline. NOTE: There will be 4 Board of Directors positions available in 2027.


How to Submit a Nomination Application Package

The nomination package includes these 3 requirements:
  1. Online nomination application completed by applicant. Note: You will be unable to save your answers as you go, so we recommend you preview the application here and prepare your answers in full before completing the online application.
  2. Completed Farmers' Market Endorsement Form. Please email your completed form to chair@bcfarmersmarket.org
  3. Minutes of the board meeting at which the candidate was nominated and approved by their farmers’ market board. Submit this to chair@bcfarmersmarket.org along with the Farmers' Market Endorsement Form.

Without a completed nomination package, including completed online nomination application, farmers’ market endorsement form and a copy of the minutes, the nomination will not be accepted.

The BCAFM Board is committed to building diversity on our board and encourage applicants from all over British Columbia with diverse backgrounds, communities and lived experiences to apply. Please consider nominating your farmers’ market vendors, board members and volunteers for the BCAFM board.

We actively encourage applications from members of groups with historical and/or current barriers to equity, including, but not limited to:
  • First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples, and all other Indigenous peoples;
  • members of groups that commonly experience discrimination due to race, ancestry, colour, religion and/or spiritual beliefs, or place of origin;
  • persons with visible and/or invisible (physical and/or mental) disabilities; and persons of marginalized sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions.

Election Process
  1. Appointment of Nominations Committee
  2. Call for Nominations: April 27, 2026 to November 30, 2026
  3. Nominations close at 11:59 PM on Monday, November 30, 2026
  4. Candidate list confirmed and provided to members: February 2027
  5. Election (if required) will be conducted entirely in advance of the AGM and conducted 100% online through the voting platform Election Runner. The online election voting window will be announced later.
  6. Election results will be announced during the 2027 BCAFM Annual General Meeting (AGM) to be held virtually online in March 2027. There is no Board election voting during the AGM.
General Information Related to the Election Process

Call for Nominations: From April 27, 2026 to November 30, 2026, BCAFM will invite its members to submit their nomination package for the annual Board of Directors election. The Call for Nominations will remain open during this period to ensure the search for new board directors reaches as many potential candidates as possible. In keeping with non-profit governance best practices and BCAFM bylaws, nominations from the floor will not be accepted.

Candidate list
: In February 2027, every member will receive an Election Bulletin from BCAFM, which will list all prospective candidates who are running in the election. The bulletin will contain a biography and statements from each candidate.


Election
: The election will be held entirely in advance before the AGM and 100% via the online voting platform Election Runner. The online election voting window will be announced later. Election results will be announced during the 2027 BCAFM Annual General Meeting (AGM) to be held virtually online in March 2027.
