The Summit County Library System is considering extending its hours of operation. Our ideal service model is to have an adequate number of staff available to work at all of our branches during these extended hours. We are also looking at alternative solutions that would have less of an impact on the County’s budget. One solution called “Open+” would allow adult patrons who register and sign an agreement to have access to the library during certain hours without staff being on-site. Minors would need to be accompanied by an adult. Security cameras would monitor the use of the facility and it’s possible that a staff member would be available to assist patrons from off-site. If the County decides to pursue this option, and if funding can be secured, we would plan to pilot this system at the Coalville Branch sometime in 2020. We would like your input on this topic.
