You have been invited to take part in a research study on cross-modal visual-auditory perception. The study aims to investigate how auditory sounds influence our perception of male and female faces. This research is being undertaken by PhD student, Eliza Hill, under the supervision of Dr Danielle Sulikowski. The data collected are intended for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
In this study you will be presented on the screen with a cross in the centre. Your task is to focus on the cross, whilst faces will flash on the screen, and a voice will be played in the background. These faces will disappear very quickly, and you need to indicate whether the face flashed was male or female using a specified key on your keyboard.
You will also be shown a series of faces more slowly and asked to identify whether each is male or female.
Participation should take no longer than 30 minutes. You may withdraw from this study at any time until the data is submitted. No sensitive personal information will be collected during this phase of the study. Your confidentiality is assured as your data will be stored without reference to your name or other identifying information. Due to the anonymous nature of the study you will be unable to withdraw your data once it has been submitted.
