ASPMN Committees:
Achievement and Recognition Committee—This committee administers the ASPMN® Awards Program. The Committee conducts most of its business via email or fax; however, one conference call might be scheduled, usually in January when determining award recipients.
Chapter Resource/Membership Committee — This combined committee helps identify the needs of chapters; makes recommendations to the Board for chartering new chapters; and recommends policies and procedures relating to chapters; also helps identify the needs of the members by conducting periodical member value surveys and monitors member benefits. This committee meets via conference call about once every two months.
Education Committee — This committee develops the content for various projects as charged by the Board of Directors. Currently, subcommittees of this committee are developing self learning modules on various topics identified by the committee. This committee is also responsible for the Continuing Education offerings for the conference and products that ASPMN® offers. Most of the business will be conducted via fax or email, but committee members may be asked to join 3-4 conference calls a year.
Communications Committee — The Communications Committee has three subgroups, Advocacy, Media and Policy. As a whole the committee monitors legislative events and activities and keeps the Board and membership apprised of events of potential interest and impact to ASPMN® and pain management nurses; issues media press releases and serves as the main contact for media for the association. This full committee meets by conference call once or twice per year and subgroups meet via conference call on a basis determined on the needs of the association.
Conference Program Planning Committee — The most time-intensive ASPMN® committee, the Conference Program Planning Committee meets by monthly and bimonthly conference calls as issues arise. In addition, committee members review abstracts via fax, mail, and email for the ASPMN® Annual Conference program. Limited space is available for participation on this committee.
Research Committee — The Research Committee administers the ASPMN® Research Grant Program and reviews research abstracts for the ASPMN® Annual Conference program. The committee conducts most of its business by email/fax and by an occasional conference call.
Special Teams —A pool of volunteers who may be asked to serve on work groups or task forces as they are established
