Background & Demographics

Conducted every five years with results shared on the International Wild Waterfowl Association (IWWA) website, the survey allows IWWA members and others to better understand population trends and focus attention on the species that need it most. The results of this survey are the most accurate representation of waterfowl numbers under human care. Click here to see past survey results.
To begin, we want to learn a little about those completing the survey. Please answer these three quick questions about you.  On the following pages, you will be asked to provide the number of males, females, and unknowns of each of the species in your care.

- Please complete the survey only once for each collection.

- Wild species in their naturally occurring plumage only. Please do not include mutations, hybrids or domestic varieties in your response.

- If you have more than 50 individuals of a particular sex of any species, please make a note in the comments at the end of the survey.
