West Park Open Air Theatre

Giroscope is exploring how the old Open Air Theatre, also known as the bandstand, could be repaired and used again. Nothing has been decided. We want to hear what local people think, what they remember and what they would like to see happen.
You do not need to know the theatre or have visited it before. All ages are welcome. Answer as many or as few questions as you like. You do not need to give your name.
1.How often do you visit West Park?
2.Do you have a memory of the theatre?

Perhaps you watched a show, heard a band, performed on stage or helped with an event. Who were you with? What do you remember seeing or hearing?

We would also love to hear stories passed down by family or friends. If you remember roughly when it was, please tell us.

Write your memory here, or tell us in person.
3.What, if anything, is special about the theatre that you would like to keep?

This could be part of the building, its history or something about the place itself.
4.What would you like to see or do there in the future?

Tick up to three things you would most like.
5.Do you have another idea? Let us know.
6.What would make it easier or more enjoyable for you to spend time there?

For example, affordable or free activities, easier paths, seating, toilets, feeling safe, shelter from the weather or a quieter space.
7.Is there anything that worries you about bringing the theatre back into use?

Please tell us about any concerns, or if you would prefer it to be used in a different way
8.If we could do one thing first, what should it be?
A little about you — only if you wish
9.First part of your postcode, such as HU3:
10.Your age
If you have photographs, old programmes or more memories, please speak to the Giroscope team. You can share a written memory or simply have a chat. We will ask your permission separately before recording you or sharing your memories or photographs publicly.

Thank you. Your answers will help us consider what could happen next. Giroscope will share a short summary of what people have told us and how this helps shape the plans.
