2013 Conference on Volunteering and Service Scholarship Application |
Introduction
Points of Light will award 50 scholarships for individuals from across the country to attend the 2013 Conference on Volunteering and Service in Washington, DC, which will take place June 19-June 22.
Points of Light is looking to award the scholarships to individuals with community involvement experience and who exhibit high potential for civic engagement. Scholarship recipients will be able to attend any available workshop they select and any public events like other attendees during Conference.
Eligibility Criteria:
1. Applicants must have an interest in advancing civic engagement and a commitment to becoming a leader in the volunteer/service sector;
2. Applicants must be committed to attending all selected conference activities; and carry lessons learned back for implementation at their organizations;
3. Applicants must be a citizen or permanent resident of the U.S. or its territories at the time of application;
4. The scholarship only covers Conference registration and recipients must pay all travel and hotel related cost for attending Conference.
Applicants will be evaluated on the following criteria:
1. Strong record of outstanding leadership in community service, as well as dedication to advancing civic engagement;
2. High potential to assume a leadership role in their organization; and
3. Ability to handle adversity and overcome obstacles;
