Program Requirements

The Colorado Center for Nursing Excellence is seeking licensed nurses who are prepared at the BSN level or higher to serve as mentors for diverse students enrolled in RN programs in Colorado and New Mexico. The purpose of the mentoring program is to provide mentors with the enhanced skills to mentor and invest in the personal and career development of diverse nursing students, resulting in them obtaining a RN degree and quality nursing employment.

1. Mentor agrees to meet the student at least once per month, either in person or using real-time electronic means such as Skype, FaceTime, Google Meet, or Duo over a one-year period.

2. Mentor agrees to attend a two-day training event to prepare the mentor for this important role (required). The dates for this events are Friday, September 13th and Saturday September 14th 2024 from 8am to 4:15pm daily.

3. This commitment includes a total of 8 monthly one-hour group coaching sessions via phone conference for mentors.

4. The Center agrees to provide ongoing support, resources, and coaching for the mentor.
