2027-2032 Central Upper Peninsula Materials Management Plan Public Comment Form

The 2027-2032 Central Upper Peninsula Materials Management Plan is being proposed for adoption by the Boards of Commissioners of Alger, Delta, Dickinson, Marquette, Menominee, and Schoolcraft County and their constituent local units of government in response to a call for plans under Part 115 of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act, PA 451 of 1944, as amended. State laws regulating solid waste disposal were updated in 2023 to transition county solid waste planning to include additional access to diversion through recycling, composting, and other means. The law establishes statewide recycling goals and standards, and the Materials Management Plan identifies how each county will implement requirements to expand access to waste diversion infrastructure and programs. The Plan also regulates provisions for the siting, operations, and the strategic use of solid waste, recycling, and organics facilities under the requirements of Part 115.
