Accelerating wood construction across Nordics and Russia

Survey targeting companies working with wood construction: Focus on skills

This survey is part of a Russian-Nordic cooperation project, that aims at supporting sustainable and innovative production and use of wood-based building materials capitalising on the untapped potential for a biobased economy in NW-Russia and Nordic Countries. Wood construction offers a real possibility of transitioning into the ‘green economy’ while creating export potential, boosting competitiveness, and adding value locally. Russia owns 20% of global forests but generates relatively low economic gains. We expect to generate mutually beneficial results leading to the expansion of the wood construction market and cutting emissions by 1: influencing skills development; 2: facilitating business relations; 3: catalysing processes through (physical and virtual) exchange of knowledge, technology and practices across universities, businesses, and authorities. Activities will be held in Arkhangelsk, Karelia, Murmansk, St Petersburg, and the Nordics (Dec2021-Dec2022).

The results of the survey will be used to inform the work in the project, namely as input to the exchanges, to inform the work on training and finally to be included in a business report.
