TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE EVALUATION
 
The CALTRANS HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE LEADWORKER examination is being given on a Departmental Promotional basis.

This evaluation is your entire examination and is designed to elicit a range of specific information regarding each candidate's knowledge, abilities, and experience to effectively perform the duties relative to the classification. Candidates are responsible for reading all of the material provided prior to completing this questionnaire. Responses will be evaluated using pre-determined rating criteria. In order to obtain a position on the eligible list, a minimum rating of 70% must be attained. Please answer questions completely since incomplete responses and omitted information cannot be considered and/or assumed. Resumes, letters of reference, and other materials will not be evaluated or considered as responses to items in the evaluation.

Candidates who fail to follow the instructions and/or who solicit input or assistance from others to complete this evaluation will be eliminated from the examination.

This examination requires respondents to answer 18 self-rating questions. The examination answers cannot be saved for completion at a later time, therefore, the examination MUST be completed in one session.

The STD.678 is required to be uploaded prior to proceeding with the Supplemental Application Questionnaire.  The STD.678 must be in a PDF format to be uploaded. Click here for the link to the (STD.678) form if you do not already have one available to submit.


Examinations are processed on a monthly basis. The final monthly submission date is on the last day of each month by 11:59 pm. Pacific Standard Time (PST). The Training and Experience evaluation and STD678 must both be completed and submitted by the time and date mentioned above to be processed. To submit any work completed hit the 'CONFIRM RESULTS' button before the monthly submission date or your examination will not be considered until the next month.

Candidates will be notified of their scores approximately 4-6 weeks after cut-off date.

Caltrans recognizes that problems may occur with Internet systems while a candidate is in the middle of submitting application materials. In the event that you encounter problems with the Internet that you are unable to resolve, you may:

1. CALL the Examination Analyst at (916) 227-7858 during regular business hours (Monday - Friday) to receive instructions on how to continue.

2. SUBMIT a request for assistance via E-mail at askExams@dot.ca.gov, providing the following information:

- The name of the Examination
- The date and time you began submitting your application materials online
- Your full name
- Your Easy ID
- Your daytime telephone number and e-mail address, if applicable
- A complete description of the problem that occurred.
Reference Verification:

Your responses are subject to verification before appointment to a position. You may also wish to have a list of your professional and educational references available; this information will be useful when completing the examination. References may be contacted to confirm that you have paid or unpaid experience pertaining to the duties and requirements listed in this examination.  Examination responses that contain inaccurate time frames/level of experience may be removed from the total point value of your examination.

willful misrepresentation or falsifications. I understand this information may be verified. I also understand
that if it is discovered that I have made any false representations, I will be removed from the examination
process, removed from the list resulting from the examination, may not be allowed to compete in future
examinations for State employment, and may be subject to prosecution for misdemeanor or felony
offenses under California law. Additionally, State employees may have adverse action taken against them
up to and including dismissal.
