Cleveland Teaching Fellowship Application
2020-2021
CTF is a partnership between the Cleveland Foundation, Cleveland State University, and the Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD). This grant funded program engages highly qualified teacher candidates in paid practicum and student teaching experiences in select CMSD schools. With a national teacher shortage, CTF is creating a pipeline of strong teacher candidates committed to urban education, who will be considered for hire the following year.
Qualifications:
(1) Declared undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, or graduate major/license in the College of Education and Human Services in early childhood, early childhood intervention, middle childhood, special education, adolescent young adult (ELA, Math, Science, SST) or Pk-12 (French, Spanish, Music, Physical Education) (2) Meet all academic and non-academic requirements for Fall 2020 final year experience including but not limited to GPA requirements, TaskStream, EdTPA, FBI/BCI, disposition, etc. (4) US citizen or permanent resident (5) Commitment to urban education (6) Good academic standing
2020-2021 Fellows will:
(1) Commit to one academic year in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. Placements may be year-long or split between two schools. This includes 180 hours in Fall 2020 and 450 hours in Spring 2021 (at least 13 weeks)* (2) Participate in program meetings and professional development sessions (3) Create deeper relationships with students, teachers and administrations beyond traditional experiences (4) Be involved outside of the classroom, including building PD sessions, extracurricular activities, student groups, etc. (5) Participate in Shadow Days in CMSD and outside districts (6) Receive stipend up to $6,300 over the course of the academic year, potentially eliminating need for outside employment
*Applicants completing internship II/apprentice teaching II/student teaching in Fall 2020 are eligible to apply for fall 2020 funding only.
