Catholic Diocese of Arlington. Career and Technical Education (CTE)/Vocational Program (Model and Location Survey) |
The Interest Survey for a Diocesan CTE Vocational School was a valuable first step. 92 percent of respondents said the diocese would benefit from a CTE Vocational School of some kind.
Moreover, the respondents said that they were most interested in the occupational pathways of Health Service, Construction, Culinary Arts, Agricultural, Logistics and Transportation.
Now having greater clarity about interest in a vocational program, the type or model of the school and its potential location need to be addressed. Would you please take this short survey to provide your answers on the best school model and location in this diocese.
The diocese is considering four possible models for a CTE Vocation Program in this diocese.
| Add-on Program (to an existing diocesan high school). | Students remain enrolled in their current Catholic high school and attend vocational training added to their curriculum. |
| Stand-Alone Vocational High School. | This is a full-time, independent high school where students receive a high school diploma, vocational/technical training, and a certification. Evening classes could be available for students and adult learners. |
| Post-Secondary School. | This is a program that adults can attend after high school graduation to gain career-specific training and certifications. High school students would not be eligible for this school until graduation. |
| Vocational Center. | This is a shared facility serving adult learners as well as students who could attend part-time for hands-on training while remaining enrolled at their current school. High school students would commute/bus here. |
