Link Up: A Program of the Weill Music Institute at Carnegie Hall
The Eugene Symphony invites public, private, and homeschools within Lane, Benton, Douglas, and Linn County to participate in Link Up and our culminating youth concert, The Orchestra Swings, on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at the Hult Center.
Link Up, a program of Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute, pairs orchestras across the country with students in elementary schools in their local communities to explore orchestral repertoire through a hands-on music curriculum. Students participating in Link Up attend a culminating concert where they sing and play recorder or violin with the orchestra from their seats.
Your school receives at no cost:
• Professional Development Workshop.
• Link Up: The Orchestra Swings Teacher Guide, companion CD & DVD, and student workbooks.
• Access to a downloadable PDF of Link Up Beginnings Teacher Guide, Student Guide, and online accompanying audio provided via the digital library at carnegiehall.org/linkup.
• Ongoing individual support.
Participating teachers are required to:
• Register by Sunday, October 6, 2017.

• Attend a Professional Development Workshop:
- Thursday, October 12; 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Friday, October 13; 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
- Saturday, October 14; 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.
- Friday, October 13; 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
- Saturday, October 14; 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.
(All PD workshops are held at the Eugene Symphony office – 115 West 8th Avenue, Suite 115 in Eugene.)
• Provide recorders for students to participate in the curriculum. We suggest purchasing recorders through www.peripole.com. Enter promotional code "Link Up" for a discount during checkout.
• Implement the Link Up curriculum in the classroom and prepare students for success in the concert.
• Attend and provide transportation to and from one of The Orchestra Swings Youth Concerts at the Hult Center for the Performing Arts:
- Tuesday, March 13, 2018; 10:30 – 11:20 a.m.
- Tuesday, March 13, 2018; 12:30 – 1:20 p.m.
• Be responsive via e-mail and phone and keep Eugene Symphony staff apprised of program implementation.
• Ensure that the $5 per student program fee (scholarships available) is paid in full by Friday, March 23, 2018.* One chaperone per fifteen students will be admitted into the youth concert for free. Additional chaperones may attend for $5 per person. Checks may be made out to the Eugene Symphony. Please indicate “Link Up” in the subject line.
