LaMB Fine Art ~ Supplemental Support Scholarship Application |
"Community arises from the meeting of needs. There is no community possible among people who do not need each other. Therefore, any life that seeks to be independent of other people for the meeting of one's needs is a life without community." -Charles Eisenstein
There's a certain gift you're giving others by allowing them to help support you. Thank you for giving them that opportunity. Thank you for being willing to name your need; it draws towards it support that creates the bonds of true community.
It's powerful to claim your agency in drawing that thing towards you by making an offering to bring it into being; in other words, "putting some skin in the game". Thus, this application for the meeting of this need is for supplemental (not full) support.
It's also a brave thing to ask for what you need! This always involves some risk of disappointment! (After all, what if we don't get it?) That's one reason it can be scary to ask for something. Admitting that we need help is another. In the culture I grew up in, this was rumored to be a bad thing. But how can we be generous, how can we feel connected to others, if there is not an opportunity to give? In asking to receive, you are giving someone else who feels saturated an opportunity to make use of their own gifts.
So, in summation, thanks for asking for what you need. You are a badass!
Applying is not a guarantee of receiving support, yet it is a necessary step.

Those who are able to pay at least 20% themselves, AKA put some skin in the game, will be prioritized. If your household currently makes or has consistently made more than $50,000/year (before expenses), please consider paying full price for the artwork or finding another way to receive support.
