AFRICAN AMERICAN FOLKLIFE IN ALABAMA

We appreciate your interest in Alabama Humanities Alliance's SUPER Teacher Program. Please complete the following application to participate in our September 7, 2023 workshop, an examination of African American Folklife in Alabama offered in partnership with the Alabama Folklife Association.

This one-day workshop will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2023 (8:30am - 3:00pm) at the Alabama Department of Archives and History in Montgomery. Participants will receive refreshments, lunch, materials and resources and 5 professional development credits. Scholars for this workshop are Dr. Shari Williams (Decoding Burial Experience Objects and Mosaic Templars of America Headstones Found in Alabama African-American Cemeteries), Dr. Trudier Harris (Folktales About Religious Conversion, and Dr. Alan Brown (Using WPA Ex-Slave Narratives in the Classroom).
