COMPASS is seeking feedback on adding proposed new funded projects to the DRAFT regional long-range transportation plan for Ada and Canyon Counties (Communities in Motion 2040 2.0) and the FY2019-2023 Regional Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).

From September 21 – October 21, 2018, COMPASS requested feedback on the DRAFT Communities in Motion 2040 2.0 plan. After the public comment period closed on the draft plan, portions of two unfunded projects were proposed for funding by the Idaho Transportation Department:
  • Widen US 20/26 from I-84 to Middleton Road to six lanes (Portion of unfunded state system priority #2)
          - Widening to four lanes from Middleton Road to Linder Road and to six lanes from Linder Road to Eagle Road are already                    funded in the draft plan
          - Widening to six lanes from Middleton Road to Linder Road remains unfunded
  • Purchase right-of-way (land) for future construction of State Highway 16 from Interstate 84 to US 20/26 (Chinden Boulevard) (Portion of unfunded state system priority #5)
          - Construction remains unfunded

As these are significant changes to the draft plan originally presented for public comment, COMPASS is asking for your feedback on these proposed additions to the list of “funded” projects. For these projects to be funded, they would also need to be added to the FY2019-2023 Regional Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) – the five-year budget of federally funded and regionally significant transportation projects for Ada and Canyon Counties.

With the exception of these two proposed changes, the remainder of the draft plan is as it was presented in the original public comment period. COMPASS is in the process of incorporating changes to the draft document based on public feedback.
