Introduction

The City of Peterborough is developing a tourism strategy to guide how Peterborough can grow as a competitive, sustainable, four-season destination.

Did You Know?
  • There are more than 400 tourism businesses in the Peterborough Census Metropolitan Area (CMA) that employ more than 3,000 people (Source: The Canadian Tourism Data Collective)
  • Each year, the Peterborough area welcomes more than 3 million visitors who spend more than $300 million in the local economy (Source: Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Gaming)
  • Peterborough is home to celebrated and world-renowned attractions, events, and experiences including the Peterborough Lift Lock, Trent-Severn Waterway, the Canadian Canoe Museum, the Riverview Park and Zoo, and many festivals and events, food, culture and nature attractions.
To ensure the direction for tourism reflects community priorities, meaningful engagement has been foundational to the development process. To date, the Peterborough community has been engaged through a survey, key informant interviews, in-person community cafés, and virtual focus groups. Insight and input gathered through these methods has served to inform the strategic direction for tourism, which will be presented to City Council for approval. Before this happens, though, we want to circle back with the community.

If you are a resident of the City of Peterborough or the broader Peterborough Region, including residents of Hiawatha First Nation and Curve Lake First Nation and the surrounding area, we want to hear from you.

This Community Feedback Loop Survey is open from Tuesday, March 10th to Sunday, March 22nd, 2026.

The questions are focused on a working vision for Peterborough as a destination, goals to pursue over the next 3-5 years, and strategies to execute in relation to these goals.

Depending on the number of questions that you answer—required fields are indicated with an asterisk (*)—this survey should take you between 8-12 minutes to complete.

Thank you in advance for sharing your feedback. It is important, valued, and help us to finalize the recommendations for the City of Peterborough’s tourism strategy. Please encourage others to participate in this survey by sharing it with them.
