COMPASS Public Participation Workgroup Membership Application

The Community Planning Association of Southwest Idaho (COMPASS) is an association of cities, counties, highway districts, and other government agencies who plan for the future of Ada, Boise, and Canyon Counties.

COMPASS shapes the future of the region by developing the regional long-range transportation plan for Ada and Canyon Counties (Communities in Motion), facilitating regional cooperation, and directing where and how federal transportation funds will be spent in Ada and Canyon Counties. While COMPASS does not own buses or build roads, it is COMPASS’ responsibility to ensure that federal transportation dollars are spent on projects that benefit the region as a whole. Learn more about COMPASS at https://compassidaho.org/.

The COMPASS Public Participation Workgroup advises COMPASS staff on public participation and outreach activities and provides a forum for communication staff from COMPASS member agencies to share information, assist one another in public participation and outreach activities, collaborate on regional projects, and receive input on outreach activities from the general public and interested stakeholders. It is comprised of communication professionals from COMPASS member agencies, up to four members of the public, and one member of the news media.

The workgroup meets on an as-needed basis at the COMPASS office in downtown Meridian, generally three to five times per year. Meetings typically last two hours.

If you are interested in becoming a public or news media member of the COMPASS Public Participation Workgroup, you are encouraged to contact Amy Luft (aluft@compassidaho.org or 208/475-2229) to schedule a phone call or meeting to discuss COMPASS and the Public Participation Workgroup in more detail before submitting an application.
