What is the purpose of this survey?
Seasonal forecasts and climate projections are used in a wide range of sectors and applications, from tourism to energy generation and food production. They provide opportunities for evidence-based long-term planning and early warning of unusual conditions, supporting an ecosystem-based management approach and helping in the design and implementation of nature-based solutions.

There are many marine sectors and organisations which could benefit from our science-based products. However, we need advice and knowledge to get the most out of them.

This survey will help to:
  • demonstrate to you the potential for forecasting of the marine environment
  • understand your concerns, needs and targets
  • directly contact you, the potential users
  • identify indicators and products that are directly tailored to the needs and requirements of MPA management
  • begin the process of co-developing these products
Why are we contacting MPAs?
Ocean science plays an important role in sustainable development around the world, especially as we begin the UN Decade of Ocean Science and WWF's "30 by 30" call to action in the Mediterranean Sea.

We believe climate projections and seasonal forecasting are crucial instruments which will contribute to aiding management of marine resources and ensuring better protection of our marine environment. To understand how these instruments can be used effectively, we hope to learn from your expertise and dedication.
