The Village has many different committees on which residents and, in limited circumstances, non-residents may serve. Public involvement is crucial to our decision-making process, and committee appointments are a valued part of our government. As a committee member, you will focus on community needs that require understanding, dedication, enthusiasm, vision, and experience. Participation can be satisfying and challenging: it provides an opportunity to develop firsthand knowledge of municipal government's operating policies and demands, and to facilitate communication between community members and elected representatives. Committee members bring a broad and invaluable set of ideas, backgrounds, and professional expertise. By advising the Village Board and staff, bringing new ideas to the table, and representing our diverse community, committee members help the Village make the best possible decisions for the whole community.

This form is for residents to express interest in serving on a Village committee. Submission of this form does not guarantee appointment, but all information must be provided to be considered. If any information is not applicable, please enter N/A. If appointed, members are required to have at least one method (phone or email) for residents or other community stakeholders to utilize if they wish to contact a member about a relevant issue. By submitting this form, the applicant understands and accepts that phone and/or email addresses will be posted to the Village website. The applicant should also be aware that committee meetings may be in-person or online, and each member must provide their own equipment and internet connection, with video, to maintain quorum at online meetings. On average, committees meet once per month, although this varies widely depending on the committee and the time of year.

The Village President, by ordinance or statute, has the authority to determine whom to appoint to committees, subject to confirmation by the Village Board. Staff’s role in this process is administrative in nature only by providing logistical support via posting notice of vacancies and compiling applications to provide to the Village President.

You may submit interest in serving on a committee even if a vacancy does not exist. Appointments are reviewed every year though incumbents may be given the opportunity to be re-appointed at the discretion of the Village President, subject to Village Board confirmation.
