Purpose
The purpose of this award is to provide scholarships to nurses that are interested in and committed to oncology nursing to continue their education by pursuing a degree in nursing.
  • The award recipient will be announced at the CleONS Fall Conference held on Saturday, November 7, 2026.
Award
Awards are the following based on enrolled degree:
  • ADN applicants: $2000 award and certificate
  • BSN applicants: $3000 award and certificate
  • MSN applicants: $5000 award and certificate
    • MBA candidates who can demonstrate how their degree will impact oncology nursing and further their career will also be considered
  • DNP or PhD in nursing applicants: $7500 award and certificate

This award will reimburse the awardee for:
  1. Tuition and fees required for enrollment or attendance at the educational institution
  2. Fees, books, supplies, lab fees, and equipment required for approved courses

A tuition statement (or combined statements) totaling the full award amount must be submitted prior to disbursement of funds.

  • Partial reimbursement will be issued based on the tuition documentation provided.
  • The applicant can submit additional tuition statements until October 31, 2027, to be awarded the balance of the award.
  • Eligible tuition expenses should be incurred between Fall 2025 and Summer 2027. All requests for tuition reimbursement must be submitted by October 31, 2027.
Funds will be disbursed via ACH direct deposit. After award notification, additional instructions will be sent by email.

2026 Scholarship Year Only
CleONS members who were awarded this scholarship within the past three (3) years at its previous lower value and who remain enrolled in the same program may re-apply in 2026 only.
  • Those awarded the scholarship will receive the difference between their previous award of $2,000 and the current scholarship amount.
  • For instance, a nurse in a DNP program who received the award last year would receive an additional $5,500 ($7,500 – $2,000) if selected again.

All applications will be evaluated using the same criteria and level of scrutiny; reapplicants will not receive preferential consideration.

Qualifications
To be eligible for this award, the nominee must be:
  • A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Registered Nurse (RN), or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) currently employed in the field of oncology nursing
  • Enrolled in a nursing degree program for the current academic year
  • A member of ONS and CleONS for a minimum of two (2) years
  • Attended a CleONS event within the past year
  • Oncology Nursing Certification (preferred but not required)
  • Has not previously received this scholarship for the same degree program.
    • This award may be granted once per degree program. For example, an applicant may receive the award once for an MSN degree and may be eligible to receive it again if pursuing an MBA.
