Selected participating producers will have the opportunity for in-person herd evaluations by project-partnered licensed veterinarians, which will establish and strengthen Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationships (VCPR).

Benefit to Producers:

  • Direct Animal Health Support: Producers will receive professional evaluations of herd health status, management practices, and biosecurity measures.
  • Compliance and Certification: Establishing a VCPR is a requirement for accessing certain medications, herd health programs, and certifications.
  • Rapid Response Capacity: In an outbreak situation, veterinarians with established VCPR can act quickly and legally to prescribe, advise, and implement control measures.
  • Producer Confidence: Having a trusted veterinary advisor builds long-term support for herd improvement, welfare, and productivity.

Education and Engagement:
  • I will participate in all five webinar series offered through the project.
  • I will attend on-farm visits and in-person workshops in my local area in 2026.

  • I will create and maintain an AgView account and register a Premises Identification Number (PIN).
  • I will enroll in the US Swine Health Improvement Plan (SHIP) and actively participate in its requirements.
  • I will develop and maintain a Secure Pork Supply (SPS) plan, including keeping accurate documentation.

Follow-Up and Evaluation
  • I will participate in post-project evaluations to assess adoption of practices, identify ongoing needs, and measure program impact.
