Welcome to the Project Substance Alchemist beta tester community!

This test will take about 10 minutes of your time.

It may be the first time you try Project Substance Alchemist and participate to a test, but don’t panic: the questions are quite straightforward. Some will be more directed towards our experienced testers later in the test, you can skip these if you prefer.

BEGINNER SCENARIO

This scenario is dedicated to new users, you can skip it if you feel you know the basics. This test will let you discover the essentials of the current abilities of Project Substance Alchemist.

1- Start the app

2- Select a material included and display it in the 3D view

3- Explore the settings of this material and tweak it

4- Find how to add new filters to your material

COLLECTION AND RESOURCES

In this new version, Project Substance Alchemist supports more your input files through the resources panel.

Scenario

1- Add a local folder including many Substance files using the resources panel, preferably having multiple subfolders

2- Once the folder is visible in the resource panel, browse your content

3- Undock the resource panel and browse it in this context

4- Choose any file you'd like to work with in your layer stack

INSPIRE

From our past user research, we gathered that the "Inspire" lab is perceived as a lot less essential than Explore and Create. We would like to ask you a few questions regarding your current usage of this lab and how you would appreciate later development

Inspire is a lab that will eventually offer you to include boards of inspiration pictures or mood boards in Project Substance Alchemist. It would allow you to extract colors, patterns and more from references pictures to help create inputs for your material authoring in "Create" lab.

MANAGE

We introduced in the last version the "Manage" lab to add informations to your Substance files.

In this new version, we added the possibility to display and edit your tags. Additionally you can rate your materials and embed these informations to your .sbsar files.

3 - Read and complete if needed the current definition of the material

In its current state, material information is gathered in a new lab; we want to add more features to help you manage and automate your content.
