Question Title

* 1. INFORMED CONSENT FORM

 

You are invited to participate in a research study entitled “Leadership Styles in Career Technical Education Crisis Communication.” You were selected as a potential participant due to your proximity with Career Technical Education as either an administrator, staff support, or faculty member. Please read this form and ask any questions you may have before acting on this invitation to participate in the study.

 

This study is being conducted by Jordan D. Smith, a doctoral candidate at the University of the Cumberlands and has been approved by the UC Institutional Review Board (IRB).

 

Background Information:

The purpose of this study is to assess any differences between leadership styles and management of institutional reputation during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study will analyze features of leadership and crisis response using a 35-question survey with an estimated time of completion at 15 minutes.

 

Inclusion Criteria:

You can participate in this study by meeting the following criteria:

§  Are or have been employed at a Career Technical College in North America during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

§  Are at least or older than 18 years of age.

 

Procedures:

If you agree to be in this study, you will be asked to answer questions by accessing a link emailed to you by the Association for Career Technical Education. The survey link will present the background information and consent form to be agreed to by indicating ‘yes’ as the response to question 1. The survey is hosted by the company SurveyMonkey©.

 

Voluntary Nature of the Study:

Your participation in this study is strictly voluntary. Your decision whether or not to participate will not affect your current or future relations with the University of the Cumberlands or the Association for Career Technical Education. If you initially decide to participate, you are free to withdraw at any time later without affecting those relationships.

 

Risks and Benefits of Participation:

There is no more than minimal risk associated with participating in this study and there is no individual benefit to participation in the study. However, study findings may provide the overall benefit of better preparing crisis managers in Career Technical Education settings for reputation management and student care.

 

Compensation:

There will be no compensation provided for your participation in this study.

 

Confidentiality:

Any data or records gathered from your participation will be kept private. Any identifiable data gathered will be coded to protect your identity. Research records will be securely stored and only accessible to the researcher.
