1. Paying for a Notary’s supplies permits an employer to take possession of the Notary’s tools and records if the Notary quits his or her job.

2. An employer may restrict who a Notary performs services for outside of business hours.

3. If a Notary quits a job when the employer paid for the commissioning expenses, the Notary is required to resign the commission as well.

4. If an employer asks to examine your notarial journal, and possibly photocopy several entries for his/her records, he/she is authorized to do so having paid for your commission.

5. On my Notary application, I am required to include my employer’s information if I plan on using my commission both at work and outside of work. This will not restrict me to only notarize at work.
