A gifted leader in emergency medicine, Dr. Paul Hannam served as Director at Toronto’s Michael Garron and North York General Hospitals where he mentored and sponsored countless learners and faculty. Paul cared deeply about the people he worked with and their wellbeing. He was respected by all who knew him for his dedication to equity and access to care for our most marginalized and vulnerable patients. He had a quiet leadership style in which he led by example, was always ready to help and mentor colleagues, especially junior colleagues, and approached his work with humility. As Director of the ED at NYGH he articulated an academic vision relevant to a community hospital and became a trusted partner in SREMI.
