Purpose: The purpose of this project is to better understand the social contextual factors (i.e., coach behaviours) and psychological mediators that influence well-being, mental health, and behavioural outcomes in CrossFit.

The following criteria will be used to determine participant eligibility for this study:
1.        18 years of age or older
2.        Able to read and converse in English
3.        Currently participating in CrossFit

Involvement: Should you choose to participate, we will ask that you complete an online questionnaire that takes approximately 20 minutes on three occasions over the next 3 months.

Risks/Benefits:  There are minimal risks associated with this study.  Questions are related to your experiences in Crossfit (e.g., your motivation for participating, whether you experience well-being, burnout, etc). The questions are not of a sensitive nature, however, asking participants about feelings of guilt/shame may trigger negative feelings.  You may choose to decline or withdraw your participation at any time throughout the course of the study. There is no explicit benefit for participating in this study.

Question Title

1. Sponsorship: The project is funded by the University of Toronto as well as a Post-Doctoral Scholarship awarded to Ben Sylvester by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada

Secondary analyses will be presented at various academic conferences, such as the annual Bertha Rosenstadt National Undergraduate Research Conference. We will also prepare manuscripts for possible publication in academic journals.

If you would like to see a feedback summary of the research, feel free to send an email to the above contacts and we will be more than willing to provide you with the relevant information once the analysis is complete.

You are also free to withdraw at any time without having to give any reason (i.e., until 1 week after the last questionnaire has been submitted). If you drop out you will not experience ANY negative consequences at all.
