Statewide Covid-19 Economic Impact Survey for Creative Organizations and Businesses

Welcome!
This survey is designed to gather information about the financial and human impacts of Covid-19's pandemic-related restrictions on California’s nonprofit cultural organizations and for-profit creative businesses.

The need for such comprehensive data is directly connected to its usefulness for developing advocacy messages and policy recommendations that support and enable the arts, culture and creative sectors’ abilities to recover.

All the available information shows that economic and organizational recovery relies in no small part on the availability of a successful vaccine and its widespread use, coupled with the use of PPE and other safety measures. Given this reality, the questions in this survey are designed to assume that some recovery of organizational activity will begin over the next year resulting in needs to be met either through funding, policies, or other assistance from governmental resources.

Californians for the Arts is dedicated to providing the for-profit and non-profit creative industries with effective advocacy tools to benefit organizations and businesses of all sizes and disciplines. To that end, every piece of data is essential. We know these are difficult times and that you’ve given many hours over the last eight months to similar requests for information. We appreciate the time and attention you are able to provide us in the completion of this survey so that we may craft effective, timely and factual messaging to policy makers and elected officials.

The survey deadline is Friday, November 27th. It will take approximately 15 minutes to complete depending on how readily available your information is. It requires access to financial and human resources data for your fiscal years ending in 2019 and 2020. The person completing the survey should have the authority to answer questions related to near-future staffing plans and financial needs as well as the organization’s plans for reopening.
