Section I: Overview of the College of Education Outstanding Practitioner Award 2017-18

The College of Education Alumni Outstanding Practitioner Award is an honor bestowed upon an alumnus/a who graduated from an undergraduate or graduate degree program in the College of Education at North Carolina A&T State University and who has at least 5 years of significant contributions to his or her chosen profession and community. This alumnus/a must demonstrate significant achievements in his or her chosen profession, earned high respect among colleagues, and had a local, national, or international impact. The nominee must demonstrate evidence of excellence through contributions exemplified by a commitment to equity, access, and advocacy.
 
Alumni Outstanding Practitioner Award Selection Criteria:
Individuals nominated for this award must meet the minimum selection criteria:
 
1) Nominee must be an alumnus or alumna of a College of Education undergraduate degree program.
2) Nominee must have at least 5 years of significant contribution to the chosen profession.
3) Nominee must be currently employed as a 'practitioner' (e.g., K-12 classroom teacher, instructor at a two- or four-year institution of higher education, counselor, reading specialist, media coordinator or instructional technologist, or a similar role).
4) Nominee must provide documented evidence of his or her commitment to equity, access, and advocacy to one's profession and to the community writ large.
5) Nominee must provide documented evidence of giving to the university's Alumni Foundation within one of the last two calendar years (2016 or 2017).
 
Nomination Process:
An alumnus or alumna may nominate another person or may nominate himself or herself for this distinction. To nominate an outstanding young alumnus/a, complete each section of this nomination form. The nominator must provide all materials pertinent to the nomination. The selection committee will NOT conduct further research on behalf of any nominee so it is imperative that the nominator upload all requested documents and provide sufficient evidence to paint the desired picture of the nominee's contributions.
 
Required Nomination Documents for Submission:
Before completing this nomination form, it would be wise to collect all required documents to make the upload process more convenient. The submission process for this award requires the upload of the following documents:
 
1) Nominee's Professional Resume with three identifiable sections: (a) professional involvement, (b) honors, accolades, achievements, and/or awards, (c) charitable activities
2) Nominee's Typed One-Page Single Spaced Response to the prompt: "Since my graduation from the College of Education, I have worked tirelessly to represent the unit's ideals of equity, access, and advocacy by ..."
3) One letter of support from a professional colleague.
4) Evidence of giving back to the university via the Alumni Association or other acceptable means (e.g., University Advancement).
 
Each of these items is required. The nominee may also upload other evidence of contributions, including newspaper or magazine articles but these items are optional.
 
Nomination Deadline Date:
Nominations for the 2017-18 award must be submitted before 11:59 PM on Friday, February 2nd, 2018. No applications submitted after this time shall be considered by the College of Education Awards Selection Committee.
