Many people in Chicago rely on walking and transit as their primary way to get around. Without a wide, clear path through snow and ice, it is especially difficult for people with disabilities, seniors, and children to travel safely. By encouraging businesses, organizations and residents to clear the sidewalk adjacent to their property, we can make Chicago a safer and better place to live and travel as a pedestrian!
The Winter Wonder Award recognizes businesses and organizations who do an exceptional job of clearing their sidewalks. This nomination process will continue through the end of winter. Recognized businesses and organizations will be listed on the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) website at the end of March, and will receive an award signed by the Commissioner of CDOT.
