BOARD OF DIRECTOR CANDIDATES
SECRETARY (1 Year Position)


Sean Connolly, RA, RWC, CCS, Walker Consultants

Sean is a Principal of the company and Director of Building Envelope in Walker’s California offices. Sean’s expertise is in the entire building envelope including above- and below-grade waterproofing, exterior walls (including windows and doors) and roofing for new construction and renovation projects. Sean is responsible for field assessments and investigations, design and peer review, bidding/negotiation, plan check, construction administration, quality assurance/quality control testing, and observations related to the building enclosure. Sean’s experience spans a variety of private and public sector clients including mixed-use, apartment, condominium, commercial, hospitality, education, hospital, industrial, and government projects. He is a licensed Architect and a Registered Waterproofing Consultant (RWC). He is also certified Construction Specifier  (CCS) and certified in Construction Documents Technology (CDT).

Sophia Salah, PE, Senior Consulting Engineering, Simpson Gumpertz & Heger

Sophia Salah (PE) is a Senior Consulting Engineer with Simpson Gumpertz & Heger Inc. (SGH) Building Technology group and practices in both the West Coast and New England regions. She enjoys applying lessons learned from investigations and collaborating with contractors and designers to develop functioning air/water/thermal/vapor control layers for building enclosure systems of commercial buildings (office, lab, and life sciences), health care facilities (hospitals and medical offices), and residential-use buildings (senior living and affordable housing). Her expertise lies in building enclosure design and construction for below-grade foundations and plazas, exterior wall opaque systems (rainscreen and barrier), fenestration (curtain wall, storefront, windows), and roofing/waterproofing
CONSULTANT DIRECTOR (2 Year Position)

Robert Larez, Axis Building Detect

Robert Larez is a retired Marine and previously worked for the technical department for Carlisle Coatings & Waterproofing, Inc., then as a sales representative for CCM throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.  He helped develop the market and assisted with raising the roofing and waterproofing standards throughout the regions.  Currently, Robert is heavily involved in the building envelope design part of construction with Axis Building Detection, consulting, and performing numerous types of investigative tests including Electronic Leak Detection (ELD). He also on the Board of Directors for the Southern California Chapter of IIBEC.
INDUSTRY DIRECTOR (2 Year Position)


Saboura Rokhsari, Owens Corning

Saboura Rokhsari holds two MS degrees in Materials-Ceramic Engineering and Materials-Corrosion Engineering. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee in 2012.

Saboura is currently AEC leader with Owens Corning for the commercial insulations and is responsible for the west of US, she is also the local chapter member of AIA, CSI, IIBEC, and SeaBEC. She is the chair of DTI task force with LA CSI and industry director with IIBEC-SoCal chapter.

Dave Erney, Element Building Solutions
With over 14 years of experience in the building industry, Dave is passionate about delivering innovative and sustainable solutions for waterproofing, restoration, and coating systems. As the founder and managing partner of Element Building Solutions LLC, Dave oversees all aspects of the business, from strategy and operations to sales and marketing.

Dave's core competencies include new business development, contract management, general contractor relations, and customer service. He has successfully secured and executed multiple large-scale projects for commercial, residential, and industrial clients, exceeding their expectations and ensuring quality and safety standards. He also has extensive knowledge and expertise in below-grade and above-grade waterproofing, concrete restoration and coating systems, and air barrier systems technology, as well as the CSI MasterFormat accreditation. Dave also currently serves as Industry Director for the So Cal Chapter of IIBEC
