NISC Leadership Collaborative Member Application
The NISC Senior Center Leadership Collaborative is composed of a diverse group of NISC Affiliate members from across the country, representing senior centers in their respective states. Together, they engage in a collaborative learning environment, exchanging best practices, exploring national initiatives, sharing strategies and resources, fostering innovation, and identifying emerging leaders within the senior center community.
As appointed members of the Leadership Collaborative, these professionals will act as liaisons to their colleagues, sharing promising practices from their respective states and bringing valuable feedback to NCOA from a community perspective. Members will also learn from other state leaders and stay informed about NCOA and NISC initiatives, tools, and resources, which they will share with their professional networks, such as state associations.
At NCOA, we believe that diversity, equity, and inclusion are vital to our success. We actively seek to recruit applicants from a broad range of backgrounds and experiences. We strongly encourage individuals from underrepresented groups—including people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, people with disabilities, rural communities, and those from different socioeconomic backgrounds—to apply.
Expectations of Collaborative Members:
- Act as liaisons to colleagues within their state, ensuring a two-way flow of information between the state and NCOA.
- Participate in monthly virtual meetings.
- Promote participation in NISC by either personally engaging or encouraging others within the state to get involved.
- Attend NCOA’s Age+Action conference if feasible. (Leadership Collaborative members are given priority for any available scholarships. Otherwise, attendance is at own expense)
- Provide feedback to NCOA from a community perspective and share information about NCOA and NISC programs and initiatives within their state.
Collaborative members should be selected by their state association or network. In cases where no state organization exists, candidates may apply for consideration for appointment and should demonstrate a plan to engage senior center professionals within their state. More than one affiliate may be appointed from each state.
Please complete the following application, which consists of three pages. The process will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. Applications are accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis.
