Cambridge Capabilities - EMPATHISING - Community Input

Empathising is: Adopting multiple perspectives.

Empathising builds on from accepting in that after we are open to ideas and feedback, can we listen deeply to other viewpoints and take them on, understanding multiple perspectives? Empathising means being able to listen, being able to hear and understand other’s points of view. It means that we understanding diversity and that difference is OK. Empathising is being able to think logically through what others are saying by controlling your emotions in the moment, especially when you have strong feelings about a differing point of view. Empathetic people are kind and valued.

We know that this might be harder for our younger students. It is however, still a very worthy disposition to have as a learner and for life. Empathy is a clear high response from parent and staff data sets. It is really important to our families in particular.
