The Caterham, Chaldon and Whyteleafe Neighbourhood Plan, which was 'made' in 2021, is now being reviewed. This is being led by the Neighbourhood Plan Implementation Group, the members of which are drawn from each of the parishes.

For more information about the Neighbourhood Plan, visit our website: CCWNP - Caterham, Chaldon, and Whyteleafe Neighbourhood Plan

As part of the Review of the Plan, we will be keeping a number of the existing policies and also introducing some new ones. For more information about the policies proposed, please visit: The Existing Policies and The Proposed New Policies. Please look at these first before responding to the survey.

We also have some displays around the parished between the 9 and 15 March - see here for more information.

We would be grateful for your responses to the questions below about the new proposed policies. We would also be grateful for any comments you have on them. All data will be processed according to GDPR rules.

Question Title

* 1. New Policy 1: Location of Development (Setting out the key principles of development and an overall spatial policy for the parishes. It will set out where development should be directed, prioritise brownfield land, restrict coalesence and ensure that development is undertaken in a sustainable way)

To what extent do you agree that such a policy would be helpful?

Question Title

* 2. New Policy 2: Meeting Local Housing Needs (To set out the type of housing needed locally in terms of size, tenure and affordability. The policy will largely be underpinned by a piece of evidence called a Housing Needs Assessment. It will help to ensure that new housing in our area helps to meet local needs)

To what extent do you agree that such a policy would be helpful?

Question Title

* 3. New Policy 3: Protecting heritage assets (The policy will identify a series of local assets that are not currently protected by way of a heritage listed - Grade I, II etc. The list has been compiled from a consultation that Surrey County Council undertook to identify such assets. The policy will make sure that should development impact on those assets, their heritage value will be carefully considered)

To what extent do you agree that such a policy would be helpful?

Question Title

* 4. New Policy 4: Green and Blue infrastructure (The policy will identify our green (land) and blue (waterways) infrastructure that provides vital habitats and corridors for wildlife. Some of this is already protected, but other parts of the network are not. The policy will map out the network of spaces and support their protection and better connection. It will also seek to support biodiversity locally)

To what extent do you agree that such a policy would be helpful?

Question Title

* 5. New Policy 5: Managing the environmental impact of development (The policy will seek to ensure that new development is designed to support the natural environment. Natural features that are typical of our parishes should be protected where possible and incorporated into design. Equally the policy will support the use of wildlife friendly features in development, such as bird and bat boxes)

To what extent do you agree that such a policy would be helpful?

Question Title

* 6. New Policy 6: Managing flood risk (The policy will seek to ensure that flooding and drainage matters are carefully considered as part of all development. It will build on a wealth of data and knowledge that has been compiled locally to add additional local detail to national policy and those in the Tandridge Local Plan)

To what extent do you agree that such a policy would be helpful?

Question Title

* 7. New Policy 7: Promoting active travel (Whilst we have little influence over strategic travel (roads and public transport) we can seek to make it easier for people to walk/cycle locally where they are able to and wish to. This will support the idea that the places in which we live should be walkable)

To what extent do you agree that such a policy would be helpful?

Question Title

* 8. New Policy 8: Town and Neighbourhood Centres (The policy will set out our aspirations for the town centre and the more local 'neighbourhood centres' to make them more attractive and viable)

To what extent do you agree that such a policy would be helpful?
