Horton Township Community-Based Economic Development Plan
|
Background Information and Instructions
Horton Township invites all permanent and seasonal residents to become part of the economic development planning process that will result in a Community-Based Economic Development Plan that will help guide local decision-making over the next ten years. Your participation in the Planning for Success Survey 2017 will ensure that the resulting plan will be a true reflection of the issues and opportunities that you and your fellow community members have identified.
There are two ways to complete the survey: (1) on-line by visiting www.hortontownship.ca; or (2) by returning the hard copy mailed to you to the drop box located in the lobby of either the Horton Community Hall or the Horton Township Municipal Office. Additional hard copies will be available at the Municipal Office.
Please complete only one survey per household.
All the results are confidential and will be reported in total numbers with no identifiable individuals or organizations. The results will form part of the Horton Township Community-Based Economic Development Plan that will be finalized by Council and released in the fall of 2017.
In addition to this survey, there are additional ways for you to provide input to the plan:
1. Participate in a Focus Group
Focus groups for seniors, youth and the business community will be conducted with the assistance of Professor Chris Fullerton from Brock University’s Department of Geography & Tourism Studies:
Seniors - at the Horton Community Hall on Thursday, April 20, from 1:00-3:00 p.m.
Youth - at the Horton Community Hall on Thursday, April 20 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm
Business owners – at the Horton Community Hall for a breakfast consultation on Friday, April 21, from 7:30-9:00 a.m. (breakfast is complimentary)
2. Participate at a Public Meeting
A representative from the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food & Rural Affairs will facilitate a public meeting to obtain your input on June 7 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the Horton Community Hall. Residents are encouraged to attend even if they have already completed a survey or participated in a focus group as this is an opportunity for broader community discussion.
Your input is valuable. Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey either on-line or in hard copy form.
The deadline for completing the survey is May 31, 2017.
