Through Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), A+ Charter Schools, Inc. receives federal grant funds through Title I, Part A & PFE, Title II, Part A, Title III, Part A, Title IV, Part A, IDEA, Part B and Perkins V (CTE) The district is seeking stakeholder input for the 24-25 school year regarding how to best improve the district’s activities to meet the purpose and intent of each program funds. Please give us your input by responding to the questions listed below under each funding source.

Title I, Part A/Parent and Family Engagement (PFE)

The purpose of Title I, Part A is for Improving Basic Programs through supplemental funding to acquire additional education resources at schools serving high concentrations of students from low-income homes. These resources are used to improve the quality of education programs and ensure students from low-income families have opportunities to meet challenging state assessments with the use of evidence-based methods and instructional strategies. In addition, Title I, Part A program insists on robust Parent and Family Engagement (PFE) Activities at every school where federal funds support effective teaching and engaged learning.

Title II, Part A

The purpose of Title II, Part A is to increase student achievement consistent with the challenging State academic standards; improve the quality and effectiveness of teachers, principals, and other school leaders; increase the number of effective teachers, principals, and other school leaders who are effective in improving student academic achievement in schools; and provide low-income and minority students greater access to effective teachers, principals, and other school leaders. The intent of the funding is to support educators in their work to improve the overall quality of instruction and ensure equity of educational opportunity for all students

Title III, Part A

The purpose of Title III, Part A is aimed to ensure that English learners (ELs) and immigrant students attain English proficiency and develop high levels of academic achievement in English. Title III will also assist all English learners meet the same challenging State academic standards that all children are expected to meet.

Hire staff to provide intervention and tutoring services for emergent bilingual students in core content areas to increase student achievement.

Title IV, Part A

The purpose of Title IV, Part, A is to support the comprehensive needs of students, with the following three goals: 1. Provide all students access to a well-rounded education including programs such as college and career counseling, STEM, arts, civics and International Baccalaureate/Advanced Placement; 2. Improve academic outcomes by maintaining safe and healthy students with comprehensive school mental health, drug and violence prevention, training on trauma-informed practices, and health and physical education; 3. Improve the use of technology to improve the academic achievement and digital literacy of all students.

Example of services: Auditory Impairment, Applied Behavioral Analysis, Autism Services, Counseling, Curriculum Development, Homebound, Interpreter, Nurse/Health Services, Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, Visual Impairment Services, etc.

Perkins V: Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century (CTE)

The purpose of Perkins V is to ensure secondary students enrolled in career and technical education programs can fully develop the academic knowledge, technical skills, and employability skills needed to enter the workforce and pursue continued education in their chosen field.
