LevelUp: Experience your Future is here! These sessions are designed to help you learn, explore, and consider how what you already do can fit with and be developed into a LevelUp course.

All sessions are 50 minutes in length.

Leveling Up Courses with Education Abroad- This workshop focuses on how to add an Education Abroad experience to an academic course. We will discuss study abroad program requirements as well as how to link the class to a professional competency so that students are able to achieve a LEVEL UP distinction. Add value to your course while improving the student experience.

Leveling Up Courses with Service Learning– Service learning is a mutually beneficial partnership between faculty, students, and community partners wherein students gain hands-on experience applying academic concepts. Service and reflection are integrated throughout the course and both support learning outcomes. Come to this meeting for examples of projects. Bring questions.

Leveling Up Courses with Undergraduate Research- Incorporating undergraduate research into your course can help students develop their own intellectual curiosity. We all know undergraduate research is valuable for our students, but the classroom can at times feel like a restricted space to expose our students to research. Our session on Undergraduate Research in the Curriculum will discuss how we can overcome the limitations to create meaningful research opportunities for our students that will result in long lasting educational benefits for our students.

Leveling Up Courses with Internships- Internships (which on our campus include traditional internships, cooperative education, practica, clinical, and field experiences) are formalized work placements for students that provide practical experience as a means to explore a profession, gain a better understanding of professional expectations, and begin integrating course content into practice. This workshop will help clarify how internships have been incorporated in past courses here at MSU and provide an opportunity to explore future LevelUp internship possibilities.

Level Up with Career Skills Sessions:
Gain a better understanding of the specific career skill you plan to foster within your LevelUp course. Session includes a discussion of how to ensure a student reaches competency according to the American Association of Colleges and University (AACU’s) VALUE rubrics as well as pedagogical strategies to explore. Come prepared to share! Sessions are as follows:
- Professionalism
- Teamwork
- Written Communication
- Oral Communication
- Critical Thinking
