2.Violet and Fotu were drowning in debt, struggling to stay warm and keep food on the table. Because of you, they received prayer, practical help and the long-term support they needed. Today the family are free from unmanageable debt and so grateful:

3.Christmas, back-to-school, and winter seasons are times of year when many people reach out for help. Mum-of- three Taryn “dreaded” Christmas. One day, she realised she had just $40 to buy groceries for 2 adults and 3 children for a fortnight. Taryn sat in the supermarket car park and wept.

But because of you, Taryn and her husband Josh received practical help, in depth support and prayer. Over time, they repaid their debts in full… and their household was joyful again. Today, Taryn says this about you:

“You’ve made a huge difference. I don’t know where we’d be if it wasn’t
for you...”

Why is it important to you, , that your support makes it possible for families like Taryn and Josh’s to receive help when money pressure has taken over their lives?

I think of my own family when I hear a story like Taryn and Josh’s

Everyone deserves someone to walk alongside them during difficult times

I believe God calls us to help carry each other’s burdens

I know what it feels like to struggle, so I want others to have support and spiritual hope

4.The change you make possible in people’s lives usually isn’t quick. It’s slow and constant. Week after week, month after month.
Patsy came to CAP deeply in debt, after trusting a relative. She would cry herself to sleep, worried about how to pay for food and petrol. It took a few years of CAP’s free help, made possible by generous supporters like you, but Patsy was able to fully repay her debts, learn new money skills and get back on her feet.
Why is it important to you, , that people like Patsy have long-term support, and learn vital money skills?

I love seeing people gain confidence with money, not just get out of debt

When one person learns, others around them benefit, and that matters to me

I believe in long-term change, not quick fixes

Patsy’s journey reminds me of someone I know

5.Your generosity means people like Patsy are offered prayer and have local church support. They often report taking steps closer to God. How significant to you is this with Jesus approach?

Very significant. It’s why I support CAP

6.The only way I can ensure that the CAP Team can keep supporting and empowering people like Patsy to take control of their money, week after week, month after month, is if I have a faithful group of supporters who give regularly.

A monthly gift of $25 helps me to plan ahead. It means I can promise Patsy’s community, and others across New Zealand, that a CAP Team will still be there providing free help next month, and the month after that.

7.Kerri and her husband were trapped in a never-ending cycle of debt. Their children watched as money pressure affected their parents’ relationships. The strain became so much that Kerri and her husband separated.

Thanks to your support, CAP was there for Kerri when she reached out for help. She reflects, “...they reached out their hands to me. Just as I would have envisioned God to.”

Today, Kerri and her husband have reunited. Their children are so happy! Both parents have learnt how to manage money with confidence.

“The kids now say things like, ‘should we buy that or should we just keep saving?’”

Why is it important to you, , that your support helps families like Kerri’s, breaking the cycle of hardship for future generations?

I think about the children who are watching on and learning

8.The only way I can guarantee that CAP can keep helping families like Kerri’s, for decades to come, is through supporters remembering CAP in their Will – ideally as a percentage of their estate.

Janine is a faithful supporter who has already chosen to leave a gift to CAP in her Will as a percentage of her estate. This protects her loved ones, while ensuring families of the future receive help and hope when they need it. She shares,

“By putting CAP in my Will I feel I’m ‘paying it forward’ and leaving a legacy… a positive change.”

Knowing that supporters like Janine are helping secure CAP’s future, and the future of New Zealand families inspires me.
