Full-Time Harm Reduction Program Specialist

The Durham County Department of Public Health is hiring a Full-Time Contract Program Specialist to support Durham County’s Harm Reduction and Opioid Response Initiative.

This position will primarily focus on expanding harm reduction efforts within the Durham County community, including the distribution of naloxone and syringe service programs (SSPs). The role is vital in addressing the healthcare needs of individuals who use substances, particularly those at a higher risk for overdose and other health-related issues.

The individual in this role will be responsible for delivering services and engaging populations of interest during non-traditional hours, ensuring accessibility to those who may be unable to participate during standard business hours. This position requires flexibility to periodically work evenings and weekends to meet the needs of our clients and community partners.
