This Free Professional Development opportunity, presented in partnership with the Cochise County School Superintendent's Office and the American Southwest Credit Union will cover the FDIC Money Smart financial literacy curriculum. The training will take place in two parts, and participants will receive 8 hours of PD for recertification.

The FDIC's Money Smart for Young People series consists of four free curriculum products. Each age-appropriate curriculum includes lesson plans for educators along with guides for parents and caregivers. The materials are available for immediate download (catalog.fdic.gov). Participants will receive a printed copy of the grade band curriculum they attend.

This standards-aligned curriculum series empowers educators with engaging activities to integrate financial education instruction into subjects such as math, English, and social studies. Here is a brief overview of what you will find:

  • Educator's Guide with lessons and hands-on activities to promote student participation in the learning process. Grade-level modifications are identified throughout the activities.
  • Teacher Presentation Slides, optional overhead visuals that include fill-in charts to support the activities of each lesson.
  • Student Guide features worksheets for students based on topics covered in each lesson that can be used at school or at home. These documents will be age appropriate for the grade band being taught.
All classes will be held at the Cochise County School Superintendent's Office, located at 4001 E. Foothills Drive, Sierra Vista, AZ. 85635
