Matauranga Kura Taiao

The Matauranga Kura Taiao (MKT) project is an opportunity to participate in knowledge sharing of korero, tikanga, and matauranga practices applicable to Te Taiao particularly for planning and remediation of at-risk whenua, wai and moana and to inform Rongowhakaata policy and decision-making and increasing our ability to influence regional and national policies. As an example, there are major water and land management reforms underway in Aotearoa. These changes will affect all types of water and how they are used it is of the utmost importance that Rongowhakaata movement is anchored by our customary values, rights, and practices.

This survey invites you to join the conversation, reflect on our traditional practices and have a say on current day issues. There are general and specific questions to gauge people's knowledge and awareness of this kaupapa. Over the next few months, there will be more surveys, a wananga dedicated to wai, oral history interviews and more opportunities to explore, grow and share knowledge.
