Be the first to know about creative opportunities in South Gate!

(Español aqui)

The City of South Gate is creating an artist registry. Artists on the list will be eligible for future projects within the city limits.  This registry will help us better understand the region’s artist population, how to better support artists, and to inform them about opportunities in South Gate. Artists in South Gate, SELA (Southeast Los Angeles) and greater LA County are encouraged to apply. We encourage applications from artists in any media (visual arts, music, performance, written word).

The registry is a database of artists interested in working on projects with the City of South Gate.  Projects may range from public art commissions to murals, exhibitions, art classes for the public and special events. The database will be maintained by the Cultural Arts Coordinator. All applicants will be added to the registry and remain listed for 2 years.  The registry may be used in combination with an open call, or as the sole resource for identifying appropriate artists for a project.  Submission to the registry does not guarantee that an artist will be selected for a project.  E-mails notifying registrants of new initiatives and RFP (requests for proposals) will be sent periodically.

About the Cultural Arts Program:
The City of South Gate’s Cultural Arts program of was established in 2019. It includes the South Gate Museum, the South Gate Gallery, cultural events, and arts activities, such as: art classes, public art, and other special programs in partnership with local artists and organizations.  Cultural Arts is committed to producing programs that foster diversity, equity, and inclusion, recognizing that art has the ability to address the deep-seated inequities that exist in our society as a whole. We celebrate multiple approaches and points of view.
