Ahead of meeting with vaccine manufacturers Scottish Government is keen to understand the level of demand for vaccination against Bluetongue Virus 3 (BTV3) in Scotland.
With a dire situation down south and the first cases now identified in Scotland demand for vaccine is high and supplies are tight so it is useful to be able to take accurate figures to the manufacturers to help them manage production and supply to meet the demand.
Vaccination is the only effective way to protect your animals from the affects of the disease.
Scottish Government is considering requiring animals coming into to Scotland to be vaccinated beyond 9 September, this could include Scottish animals attending sales in England/Wales wishing to return to Scotland.
It is predicted that buyers, especially in England will be looking to source only vaccinated animals.
